Information for Beginners – 2017

The School of Bonsai conducts classes for beginners commencing in February 2017 at the Don Moore Community Centre, North Rocks.

The Community Centre is located on the corner of North Rocks Road & Farnell Avenue, North Rocks.

Bonsai tuition for the Beginner’s class is Thursday 2nd February, the morning class is 10.00am till 1.00pm. The Thursday evening Beginner’s class is from 7.00pm till 10.00pm.

1st Term runs for nine weeks. If you enjoy the first term you are welcome to enrol for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Term Beginner’s class at the commencement of each term in 2017. The complete Bonsai Beginner’s class tuition runs for four nine week terms.

Classes are informal and conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The first part of the lesson consists of a demonstration or discussion on a particular Bonsai topic conducted by your teacher and usually runs for around 45 minutes. We then break for tea or coffee for around 10 minutes and then we commence the second part of the lesson which is the workshop /practical side of the lesson. Students can bring in a plant for advice on styling, trimming, wiring or any task you may want done to your plant. If you don’t have a plant for the workshop side of the lesson you are welcome to wander around the classroom and observe. The workshop is optional, and you are not required to bring a plant to class each week. You are also welcome to leave the lesson well before the finishing time.

There are no exams but it is in your best interest to bring a notepad and pen to each lesson to take down notes. You may find you can only remember a little from each lesson and jotting down important points for future reference will be beneficial. We do have some printed notes for some of the lessons but most of the notes you acquire from class will be those that you make yourself.

I look forward to seeing you at class in February. If you have internet access you can visit the School’s Facebook page at, The School of Bonsai Inc, or Classes tab of this site. If you have any queries please contact us via the contact page.

Yours Sincerely,

Clinton Nesci
