Our student bonsai displays will be arranged and presented by

Michael Kempson and Evan Marsh.

Michael is a highly regarded artist whose work explores the intersection of bonsai and fine art. Best known for his detailed etchings inspired by trees and nature, he brings a refined sense of composition, balance and storytelling to the display space. His artistic background adds a unique dimension, helping to present each tree not just as a specimen, but as part of a broader visual narrative.

Evan is an experienced bonsai practitioner and teacher, known for his deep horticultural knowledge and clear, practical approach to bonsai development. With years of hands-on experience guiding students, he understands how to bring out the best in trees at all stages of refinement, and how to present them in a way that reflects their structure, health and potential.

Together, Michael and Evan combine artistic vision with technical expertise, creating a display that thoughtfully showcases student trees alongside companion plants, while enhancing the overall flow and experience of the exhibition.
