Course Structure and Term
The complete Bonsai Beginners Course runs over 4 terms of 9 weeks each for a 12 months period.
1st term starts at the beginning of a calendar year, followed by new enrolment for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th term, in alignment with the NSW school term.
At the School of Bonsai, we offer a structured four-term syllabus complemented by professional notes, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
Despite the structured approach, new students are welcome to join at any time throughout the year.
Whether you're starting mid-term or at the beginning, you'll find a supportive environment ready to help you grow and thrive in the art of bonsai.
Class Atmosphere and Activities
Classes are informal and conducted in a friendly atmosphere.
The first part of the lesson consists of a demonstration or discussion on a particular Bonsai topic conducted by your teacher and usually runs for around 45 minutes. We then break for tea or coffee for around 10 minutes and then move on to the workshop/practical side of the lesson. Students can bring in a plant for advice or help with styling, trimming, wiring, or any task.
There are no exams, but we recommend you bring a notepad and pen to each lesson to take down notes.
Professional Beginners Notes are provided at the beginning of each term. We recommend you read the course notes provided before each lesson.
