Information for Beginners
Whether you’re just starting out or continuing your bonsai journey, beginners are warmly welcomed.
Tools are not necessary at the start—your teachers will advise you when needed.
You’re also welcome to bring your own trees for guidance and care advice.
Class Details and Location
Classes are held at the
Don Moore Senior Citizens Hall,
located behind the Don Moore Community Centre
corner of North Rocks Road & Farnell Avenue, North Rocks.
Beginner Classes:
Tuesday: 10 am – 1 pm
Thursday: 7 pm – 10 pm
Choose whichever session suits you.
Course Structure and Term
Our complete Beginners Course runs over four 9-week terms across 12 months, aligned with the NSW school terms.
Each term includes professional course notes and a structured syllabus — but new students can join at any time throughout the year.
What to Expect
Classes are friendly and informal.
Each session begins with a 60-minute demonstration or discussion, followed by a short break, then hands-on workshop time.
You can bring a tree for help with wiring, styling, trimming,
or general care.
Comprehensive Beginners Notes are provided at the start of each term.
