Weekend Demonstrators
We’re proud to showcase a fantastic line-up of bonsai demonstrators for the weekend, featuring some of our community’s most respected artists and educators. All demonstrations will be free to watch, giving visitors the chance to learn from experienced practitioners throughout the event. Demonstration times will be published shortly.

Sean Hood

Sean Hood is an accomplished bonsai artist and popular demonstrator whose work spans everything from large collected trees to refined shohin bonsai.
He has been practising bonsai for over twenty years, studied with Lee Wilson, and is well known for his passion for yamadori and the development of high-quality bonsai material.
Sean’s work has been represented in the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection in Canberra, and he continues to be recognised through demonstrations and exhibition success.

Paulette DeMartin

Making lightweight rocks

Paulette DeMartin is a highly respected bonsai artist, teacher, and demonstrator with many years of experience in the Australian bonsai community.
She is known for her refined artistic eye, thoughtful guidance, and strong technical knowledge, and has received recognition through major exhibition success, including Champion over 400mm and Supreme Champion for her class at the Royal Easter Show.
Paulette is also a valued teacher at The School of Bonsai, where she supports students in developing both skill and artistic direction.

Evan Marsh

Evan Marsh is a highly regarded bonsai artist, teacher, and demonstrator known for his strong technical knowledge and clear, engaging teaching style.
At The School of Bonsai, he leads advanced students with a thoughtful and nuanced approach that encourages both technical development and artistic growth.
Evan is also recognised more broadly in the bonsai community as an experienced local artist who brings insight, skill, and generosity to both classes and public demonstrations.

Clinton Nesci

Clinton Nesci grew up in bonsai through the Ray Nesci Bonsai Nursery in Dural, established by his family in 1979.
After completing his Nursery Trade Certificate at Ryde TAFE, he joined the nursery full-time in 1989 and has become one of the best-known bonsai professionals in Australia.
Clinton is widely respected for his deep practical knowledge, approachable style, and many years of teaching and demonstrating within the bonsai community.

Ken Poole

Ken Poole has been involved in bonsai since the early 2000s, beginning with an English oak grown from seed and developed over more than two decades.
His long experience has helped shape a thoughtful and patient approach to bonsai, with a particular interest in Australian native species.
Ken is also known for sharing his knowledge through the bonsai community and is a valued member of The School of Bonsai committee.
